Trades & Industrial

Quick Overview

The SIIT Trades and Industrial (T &I) department offers over 30 programs in the construction, industrial and mining sectors, and trains over 1300 students annually.  The T&I staff work closely with industry partners, employers, related organizations, governments, and others to provide relevant programming.  Training is delivered across the province including directly at the First Nation community level.

In partnership with Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC), T&I also offers apprenticeship level training for Carpentry Levels 1 through 3, as well as approved training for Welding, Levels 1 and 2.  Training for other trades is also being planned for the future.

To assist with apprenticeship training, SIIT and SATCC formed the SIIT Joint Training Committee (JTC) in 1998.  The JTC enables qualified Indigenous individuals to more easily enter and succeed in industrial and construction trades as apprentices.
