Educational Assistant

The Educational Assistant (EA) Program prepares learners to assist and support the teacher(s) in the classroom from kindergarten to high school. Learners develop skills to work with children individually, in small groups or with the entire class.

The Educational Assistant (EA) and Special Needs

Many educational assistants work with students who have special needs. A focus on exceptionalities will be included, as well as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. The skills learners develop help to assist the children in the classroom to meet their educational requirements.


Admission Requirements

Regular Admissions:

  • Regular12/Adult 12/GED 12
  • CPIC
  • Vulnerable Sector Check

Mature Admission:

  • Age of 21 or older
  • Any applicant under special admission is subject to a CAAT Assessment

Criminal/vulnerable record checks may be obtained from your local police service or RCMP. A fee may apply.

Graduation Requirements

Completion of all SIIT academic requirements.
