Process Operation Technician - New

Learners develop the knowledge and skills to become process operators in a wide range of processing industries. An academic preparation in power engineering related math and science is built into the first part of Year One.

Graduates can expect salaries ranging from $40,000 to $98,000.

Graduates receive the SIIT Process Operation Technician diploma and write provincial exams for the Saskatchewan 4th Class Power Engineering licence. Learners will also achieve certification in safety courses related to the industry.


What do I need to get in?

Academic Requirements:

  • Grade 12 - Math & Science 30 Level
  • Adult 12 - Math & Science 30 Level

Non-Academic Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills
  • A mechanical aptitude
  • Interest in applied technologies
  • Good eyesight, Hearing, Manual dexterity and Physical mobility
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Applicants with Grade 12 or Adult 12 will be given preference, including those who demonstrate a high average in math & science.
  • Applicants should have good communication skills, good mechanical interest and aptitude, as well as interest in applied technologies.
  • Industry requirements include good eyesight, hearing, manual dexterity, and physical agility.
  • Industry conditions may require individuals to work at excessive heights and confined spaces.
  • Some employers may require a complete Saskatchewan Grade 12 and/or specific subjects.
  • Class 5 Driver's License (preferred)
Graduation Requirements

Completion of all SIIT academic requirements. Successful passing of the Saskatchewan 4th Class Power Engineering program administered by Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan.
