Program Overview

The Essential Skills and Learning for Work Program is an Adult Pre-10 (Levels 1 and 2) program specifically designed for adult learners with goals of employment or returning to school for their Adult 10 (Level 3) and Adult 12 (Level 4). Levels 1 and 2 focuses on developing the knowledge and foundational skills needed to navigate our ever changing world.

Through the enhancement of essential skills such as writing, communication, basic math, working with others, etc., participants will develop these transferrable skills and others to participate in continuous learning opportunities at home, work, and in the community.

Participants will be eligible to apply for the Provincial Training Allowance (PTA). 

Admission Requirements:

  • Students must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Students must also have been out of school for at least two years and unemployed
  • Must be assessed as a Level 1 or Level 2 Learner (Adult Pre-10) by writing the Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT) 
    • Test dates TBD.

Length of Program: 

  • November 14, 2018 - April 18, 2019
