Program Overview

The focus of this six week quick skill program is to help learners develop the skills needed to begin entry-level work as a framer. Framers interpret blueprints, specifications and codes, lay-out, construct, sheath and erect floor, wall and roof systems to build houses and other wood buildings.

Delivery:

  • The program is a combination of classroom and practical shop experience.

Admission Requirements:

  • Academic Requirement(s): Grade 10 preferred with Math 10 and Science 10, but will consider applicants with other academic credentials.
  • Non-Academic Requirement(s): Ideal candidates like to work with their hands, enjoy working outdoors and as a member of a construction crew.

Career Opportunities:

  • Graduates will find entry-level work in the residential or industrial construction industry at both the First Nation community level and in urban areas.
