Welding Certificate

This program provides knowledge and skills development in operating welding equipment and performing basic welding operations using current welding practices.

The Welding certificate provides credit for Level 1 and Level 2 apprenticeship training. To write the interprovincial journeyperson exam, Level 3 training and enough hours are needed. The program also includes an opportunity to achieve certification in safety and other courses related to the industry.

Graduates can expect salaries ranging from $26,400 to $66,000.

Learners receive Level 1 and 1200 hours of Level 2 training for Welding Apprenticeship credit. Apprentices must obtain 5400 working hours (1200 hours directly from the certificate program). Working hours must be done with an accredited journeyperson/shop. It normally takes three years to complete the required hours.


Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements:

  • Complete Grade 12 or Adult 12 preferred

  • Minimum Grade 10

  • Required Subjects Math 10 & Science 10 at 60% (no Modified Classes)

  • Submit most up-to-date high school transcript
  • Submit a confirmation of enrolment of your final semester courses
